Geraldine Breakwell MBACP (Accred) UKRCP

Geraldine has a background in psychodynamic counselling and has worked extensively in primary care, secondary care, in private practice and in education. She has a particular interest in chronic illness and pain and works in this context within the NHS. She also holds a diploma in the management of stress. Geraldine incorporates mindfulness into her one to one work with clients seeking help with anxiety, depression and stress and is also trained to work therapeutically in the online environment. She is currently teaching mindfulness  in support of several randomised control studies.

Geraldine’s interest in meditation was awakened more than 30 years ago on visits to The Findhorn Foundation and to Plum Village, the centre of Zen Master Thich Naht Hanh in France. She has trained extensively in mindfulness and has completed both Practitioners Development  and  Teacher Development  with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at the University of Bangor as well as more recent training in supervision. Most recent continuing professional  development includes trainings with Jack Kornfield and Saki Santorelli. The work that Geraldine does in this field is rooted in her own established practice of mindfulness meditation. In addition to teaching 8 week programmes and one2one mindfulness in Leeds Geraldine also offers supervision to other mindfulness teachers and therapists. She is also supporting both the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University as a guest teacher exploring the impact of mindfulness in the workplace and the University of Oxford as part of the Myriad project.
